The everyday bag, considered properly

Shape matters. So does getting your keys out with one hand.

The story

Before choosing a bag, lay out what you actually carry. Include the awkward items: a glasses case, a charger, a water bottle or the notebook that rarely fits as neatly as it does in a product photograph.

Check the opening and the arrangement inside. Can you find small items without emptying the bag? If it is meant to carry a laptop, compare the device dimensions with the usable internal space rather than the exterior measurements.

Try the strap over the coat you wear most often. Consider how the weight sits when the bag contains your essentials, and whether the fastening is easy for you to use.

Finally, read the material and care information. A beautiful object becomes an everyday companion through repeated use. The best choice for you should make that use feel straightforward.
