AccessoriesHow a Handbag Becomes a Cultural Object
By John Bloste
Work can be part of an identity without providing its entire vocabulary.

A job title gives a stranger a convenient starting point. It can also narrow a conversation before it has begun, leaving interests and relationships outside the frame. A more generous introduction allows several parts of a person to coexist.
Consider the subjects that receive attention without needing to become another career: books, rooms, music, small projects or places worth exploring. An interest does not require a commercial purpose to be worth mentioning.
There is no need to abandon professional pride. The aim is to give work an accurate place in the introduction, with enough room around it for curiosity, friendship and everything that happens beyond a role.
