A working wardrobe beyond the uniform

Build around the demands of your week, with space for your own point of view.

The story

Begin with the calendar rather than an image of what professional dressing should look like. A week divided between a studio, a train and a client meeting asks different things of clothing than one spent mostly at a desk.

Identify two combinations that already work. Notice why: the ease of movement, the useful pockets, the way a jacket changes a simple base. Repeat those qualities when considering another piece.

Keep a layer or accessory that lets you adjust to a different setting without carrying a second outfit. Test the combination on an ordinary day before relying on it for an important one.

Your workplace’s expectations still matter, but they need not erase every personal choice. A texture, a colour or a familiar piece of jewellery can make a practical outfit feel like something you chose.
